The
Benedictine Way: A Community of Contemplative Prayer
|

|
|
When: The
first and third Thursdays of each month from 6:00 -8:00 pm
What: The Benedictine Way is a gathering of individuals
interested in contemplative prayer in the Benedictine
tradition. Twice a month the group meets for evening prayer,
a simple meal of soup and bread in silence, a brief time of sharing
what is going on in our lives, a teaching on the Rule of St. Benedict,
twenty minutes of centering prayer and then concludes with
Compline. Guests are welcome to come at any time and its okay
to drop in and see what’s going on. |
Godly Play: Instilling a sense
of wonder
|

|
|
When: Sunday
from 9:30 – 10:15 am
What: Elementary aged children gather quietly in the atrium, settle on
the carpet to hear a story-teller share a story from the Bible in this
Montessori based curriculum. After the story the leader begins the “I
wonder” questions. “I wonder what you liked best?” “I wonder what the
people in the story might have been thinking?” The phrase “I wonder” is
the core of Godly Play. After the discussion, the children can respond
to the story through various kinds of art work, or they can play with
the story materials and act out what they’ve just heard, or they can
sit quietly and read or do puzzles. |
Spiritus Gladius: “Take
the Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.”
(Ephesians 6:17)
|

|
|
When: This
intercessory prayer group meets once a month on the fourth Wednesday of
the month.
What: This team prays daily for prayer requests submitted to St.
Paul’s. A commitment to prayer, confidentiality and the once a month
group meeting is all that is required. |
Supper Clubs: Growing together through fellowship and
Bible study.
|

|
|
When: Various
evenings depending on the host.
What: These open groups gather together for a common meal, fellowship
and inductive Bible Study. |
Adult Education
|

|
|
When: Sundays
9:30 – 10:15
What: Various classes are offered from time to time. We have
an ongoing, lay-led lectionary study that looks at the lessons to be
read that Sunday. The rector and others offer special classes
throughout the year. Check the calendar and events page for specific
classes. |
Labyrinth: Walking Prayer
|

|
|
When: Various
times throughout the year.
What: The labyrinth is a form of prayer walking. Like taking a
mini-pilgrimage, walking a labyrinth is a metaphor for the interior
journey of faith. With its twists and turns we are led to the center
where we open ourselves to God’s presence. The journey back out
reflects our journey back into the “real” world. |
Healing Ministry
|

|

|
|
When: Healing
service with communion, Wednesdays at 5:30 pm.
What: Individuals may come forward for the laying on of hands
and anointing with Holy Oil for physical, spiritual or emotional
healing. |
